access is keyboardist/composer Daisuke Asakura and vocalist/lyricist Hiroyuki Takami.
access was formed in 1992 after Hiroyuki Takami had recorded three tracks for up-and-coming composer Daisuke Asakura, for Daisuke's album D-Trick. The two met at a TMNetwork concert where Asakura was working as a back up keyboardist. access's first debut was at an encore to an Asakura live. After that, they made their debut single "Virgin Emotion". Later in 1993, they made their first album "Fast Access". Over the course of the next three years, access would go on to release 10 more singles and two more albums ("Access II" and "Delicate Planet".) They sold out concerts within 10 minutes of tickets going on sale!
In 1995, access announced that they would be "graduating" and moving on to persue solo careers. Takami went on to persue his solo career as well as act in movies and musicals. Asakura went on to produce and compose such artists as T.M.Revolution, Iceman, Kotani Kinya, The Seeker, among many others. He also wrote the soundtrack for the anime "Gravitation" as the unit Mad Soldiers, formed with Kenichi Ito.
Seven years later, in 2002, the two decided to reunite again. When rumours spread, fans bombarded Asakura's web page and for the first and only time, the page was completely broken. In February of 2002 they released their comeback single, "Only The Love Survive", soon followed by another single "EDGE" and their album "Crossbridge", which included remakes of some of their older singles. They released another single, "Real at Night", and their album, "Rippin' Ghost" before taking another hiatus in the end of 2003. They appeared at a countdown concert for 2003/2004 then again for 2004/2005, where they announced a tour for the summer of 2005 along with a new song, "CATCH THE RAINBOW". They performed two more tours before finally announcing a release. In 2007 they released the mini album "Diamond Cycle" and are currently working on another full-album release.
access had a short tour in Febuary of 2007 before making their first full album since Rippin' GHOST. The album was named "binary engine"; both "diamond cycle" and "binary engine" presented the option to the buyer of choosing between either the album, or the CD/DVD album combo. The DVD for "diamond cycle" included the PV for their song "Stay", as well as a sample of a song that was supposed to be on the next album (which it never was). The DVD for "binary engine" included live concert footage from the diamond cycle Tour. After the release of "binary engine", access released a single entitled "hitomi NO tsubasa", which was selected as the final opeining sequence for the popular anime series, "Code Geass"; the song was only used for two "omake" episodes. access announced at a concert during the binary engine Tour that they have another song called "Doubt and Trust" in the works, which is going to be the opening theme for "Code Geass 2". They are currently working on another album, as well as a fan club event, to celebrate their fifteen years together.
